On an annual basis, the ANC hosts the January 8th event in various Provinces. This event, held to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the ANC, sees the release of the January 8th statement which sets the tone, the priorities, and tasks for the year ahead. Prior to the event, a Presidential Gala Dinner is hosted, attended by Ministers and local and foreign dignitaries. An additional cost is levied for attendance of the gala dinner.
